Overview
A hip labral tear is damage to the cartilage ring around the hip socket, which helps stabilize the joint.

Symptoms
Groin or hip pain, clicking, catching, and stiffness.

Diagnosis
Physical exam and MRI arthrogram.

Treatment
Activity modification, physical therapy, and sometimes arthroscopic repair.

Persistent hip pain with mechanical symptoms should be evaluated.
