Overview
Osteomyelitis is an infection of bone, usually caused by bacteria. It can be acute or chronic and may lead to bone destruction.

Symptoms
Fever, localized pain, swelling, and redness. Chronic cases may have draining wounds.

Diagnosis
Blood tests, imaging, and cultures. MRI is helpful for early detection.

Treatment
Prolonged antibiotics and sometimes surgical debridement.

When to seek care
Suspected bone infection requires urgent evaluation.
