Causes and risk factors
Repetitive movement, sudden increase in activity, poor mechanics, and inadequate conditioning can contribute.
Symptoms
Pain with movement, tenderness at the tendon, and mild swelling.
Diagnosis
Usually clinical. Ultrasound or MRI may be used to assess tendon injury or tears.
Treatment
Rest, ice, NSAIDs, physical therapy, activity modification, and gradual return to activity.
